A Danced Concert by the Stegreif Orchestra at Kühlhaus Berlin

With escape valse, the Stegreif Orchestra is presenting a concert that is a fusion of orchestra, dance, and performance. Based on impressionist works—above all Ravel's La Valse—classical compositions are deconstructed with improvisation and alternative soundscapes. Choreographer Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola embraces the whirlwind of music by working with four dancers and the 26 musicians of the Stegreif Orchestra to devise a choreography that involves everyone. Individual voices emerge, then disappear again into the collective, following the pull of a waltz that oscillates between intoxication and loss of control. escape valse combines musical ecstasy with physical presence, transforming the concert hall into a pulsating space of movement.
