Choreography with a New Cast at Ballhaus Naunynstraß

Water is a mirror, water is movement, water is a state of matter. In her choreographic debut Caminhos das Águas—Unaufhaltsames Fließen (Caminhos das Águas—Unstoppable Flow), Fernanda Costa uses the image of water to dissolve rigid labels and fixed self-images. Together with three Black female dancers, she explores new, self-determined representations of Black femininity and examines the body as a mal-leable space between the inner and the outer. Like water, her movements forge their own paths, flow around boundaries, overcome obstacles, and remain in constant motion. The work is part of the dance series How I Become, How I Want to Be at Ballhaus Naunynstraße and will be presented in September with a new cast. (lmk)
