With In C, Sasha Waltz & Guests and tanzmainz are bringing one of the most successful works of recent years back to the Radialsystem – accompanied live by Ensemble Musikfabrik. The choreography is based on Terry Riley's minimalist composition of the same name, whose 53 musical modules Sasha Waltz has translated into an equally variable system of movement sequences. The result is a dynamic, vibrant process between structure and freedom, informed by both clear rules and improvisation. The instrumentation can vary, as can the length and course of the piece. In C is a constantly changing interplay of body, sound and space – and an example of the creative power of collective design. (jw)
