38th Edition of the International Festival “Tanz im August” at HAU

This year's installment of Tanz im August will once again showcase international contemporary dance works in the capital. In TRAPICANA, Joana Tischkau, Jeremy Nedd, Sophie Yukiko, and the Malpaso Dance Company transform Havana’s legendary nightclub into a dazzling revue reflecting on exoticism and the projections of tourism. Trajal Harrell opens the archive of his more than twenty-year career with his solo work, Music Music. With Sounding Light, Cheng Tsung-lung creates a meditation on forest landscapes for the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan. Bat Dances by Kareth Schaffer and Jonas Hauer approaches the world of a bat through movement, echolocation, and subtle humor. These and many other performances and discussion formats can be experienced at this year’s edition of the long-standing festival. (jw)
