The La Cage Performance Company are Holding a Premiere at Ballhaus Ost

In the new piece entitled Der Ozean (The Ocean), La Cage will be inviting audiences to experience a multisensory dance and music performance designed for deaf and hearing adults, with or without babies. In a composition of movement, voice, sign language, sound, taste, and vibration, artistic director Aliénor Dauchez and dancers Josefine Mühle and Dessa Ganda will explore the contradictions of care and exhaustion, closeness and dependency. Inspired by the image of the sea as a space of vastness, change, and inexhaustible maternal source(s)—and developed in close collaboration with composer Genoël von Lilienstern—the piece unfolds as a hybrid performance about the complex and ambivalent experiences of parenthood and childhood. It proves to be both a quiet and penetrating event, not to be missed. (jw)
