PLATAFORMA BERLIN: The 12th Ibero-American Festival

PLATAFORMA BERLIN, the decolonial and intersectional platform for dance, performance, installation, documentary film, and both ancient and emerging body-based technologies, is dedicating its 2025 edition to the theme Eros & Thanatos. The focus is on BIPoC and Latinx artists whose works explore urgent geopolitical questions—ranging from pleasure and carnival to the genocide of Indigenous peoples in the Amazon rainforest. Their perspectives confront colonial wounds, planetary crises, and fundamental questions of life and death. Between the forces of sensuality (Eros) and destruction (Thanatos), spaces emerge for resistance, remembrance, and transformation. The festival combines performances, workshops, conversations, an on-site intervention in Mexico, and a surprise celebration. (jw)
