Almost Forgotten Spirits
René*e Reith Presents a Berlin Premiere at Ballhaus Ost
In Dances of Almost Forgotten Spirits, René*e Reith pays tribute to the trans artist Liddy Bacroff, who was persecuted under National Socialism and murdered in 1943. Drawing on her autobiographical and philosophical texts written in prison, the piece emerges as an interdisciplinary work blending dance, performance, and biographical research. The queer, transfeminist team combines personal perspectives with historical material, creating a space of remembrance where past and present intertwine. The audience also becomes part of this process: bodies, voices, and movements serve as vessels for memory and imagination. In this way, the work explores how repressed stories can be told today—and what forms of collective remembrance may emerge from them. (jw)
