The “Video Documentation of Dance” project has been carried out since the early 1990s, initially by the Mime Centrum Berlin (now the Media Library for Dance and Theater (MTT)), and later by Tanzforum Berlin, and has compiled many of the dance productions performed on Berlin stages since then. This program, funded by the Senate, will not be continued after 2025. Viewing copies of all recordings from the more than 30-year documentation period can be found at the MTT at the International Theater Institute.
To continue this unique, freely accessible collection of Berlin’s dance scene, the documentation and compilation process now needs to be reorganized. The MTT has put together a guide to help you prepare video documents in a technically and legally sound manner so that they can be made available in the media library, thereby enabling the artists in your venues to be visible as part of the development of Berlin’s dance scene. Please feel free to reach out to the media library team to discuss how we can make the process of submitting existing and new video material as straightforward as possible for you. The goal is to continue enabling the preservation and visibility of Berlin’s dance scene in video form—in cooperation with the venues and artists of the scene.
Detailed guidelines for creating and submitting video documentation to the Media Library for Dance and Theater can be found in the downloads section in German and English.
