Following the kick-off event Tanz Macht Berlin at the Academy of Arts on February 1, 2025, the ten partners will hold satellite events between March and September 2025 to develop structures and strategies for their respective dance scenes.
In a cross-network exchange and as part of a digital closing event at the end of September, all results will be brought together with a view to the future.
We will provide information here about the partner events with announcements and documentation texts.

Tanzbüro Berlin: Training for Political Imaginaries
Two events organized by FreelanceDanceEnsemblesBerlin in cooperation with ZTB e.V. and Tanzbüro Berlin, with the kind support of Diorama.
The events offer cultural practitioners working at the intersections of culture, conflict, and care important tools for navigating personal, professional, and political crises with resilience and foresight. In times of fragmentation, we explore how to maintain momentum and mental health while acknowledging grief, anger, and collective possibilities.

Tanzbüro München: Dance and Parenthood. Strategies for Fair Care Work in Culture
Conceived by Tina Meß and Simone Schulte-Aladag in collaboration with Karolina Héjnova, the conference was held on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Tanzbüro München. It was aimed at dance professionals, academics, cultural policymakers, and representatives of production companies and administration. The aim was to discuss the complex challenges of care work in the independent dance scene, reflect on structural changes, develop concrete recommendations for action on this complex issue, and jointly establish the basis for a fairer working environment in the independent arts professions.
The symposium combined academic lectures, personal experience reports, cultural policy analyses, and performative interventions, creating a holistic picture of the topic.
The dance scene in Baden-Württemberg cooperated in this symposium with input, networking, and knowledge transfer.

nrw landesbuero tanz: workshop dance.alliances: Perspectives for starting a career in dance
Artistic paths and careers rarely develop in isolation, but rather through reliable networks, visible points of contact, and professional structures that enable artistic growth and are open to new ideas. How can young dance professionals find their way into the independent scene under increasingly fragile conditions? And what is needed to ensure that their impulses can continue to enrich the further development of the scene (locally) in the future?
With the workshop dance.alliances, the nrw landesbuero tanz invites you to a working day that focuses on what is possible together: forming alliances. Designed as a moderated workspace, joint strategies will be developed, concrete needs made visible, and existing and new formats reflected upon. All players involved in the transition from training to independent dance practice are invited – organizers, production houses, training institutions, representatives of the independent scene, and artists at the beginning of their professional careers.

Tanzinitiative Brandenburg: Dance – Weiten / Brandenburg meets Berlin
A forum on the situation and prospects of dance in Brandenburg
An event organized by Tanzinitiative Brandenburg and fabrik Potsdam in cooperation with Tanzbüro Berlin, sponsored by the City of Potsdam and the DAKU Fund.
Tanzinitiative Brandenburg invites dance professionals from Brandenburg and Berlin who work between or in both worlds, or who are considering doing so in the future, to highlight their strengths and potential. The exchange will highlight the particular challenges of the different contexts and identify possible synergies and connections between rural areas and urban opportunities.

TanzNetzDresden is celebrating its 15th anniversary on World Dance Day and is using the day to network, raise awareness of dance and various partners, artists, and dance schools, and encourage people to join in. As part of the Tanzallianzen network project, there will also be a collaboration with the Tanzinitiative Brandenburg on this day.

Symposium of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Dance Center
With the two-part symposium “Zwischenschritt” (Interim Step), the MV Dance Center team takes a comprehensive look back at the artistic work of recent years and reflects on perspectives for the future of dance in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the second part of the day, under the motto “Forging Alliances,” the following questions will be addressed in impulses, working groups, and roundtables: How can dance scenes strengthen themselves in view of the fact that the boundaries of what can be said have shifted far to the right and many dance professionals often stand alone with their work—especially in rural regions? K3 Hamburg: Resilient Institutions - Supporting Artists through Budget Cuts and Political Pressure
Recently, there has been a barrage of bad news in Germany: initiatives have had their funding cut, and entire institutions are being wound up. At the same time, right-wing parties are gaining strength, questioning not only artistic freedom but denouncing cultural funding as a whole. Other countries in Europe are ahead of these developments; they have long had to defend themselves against attacks and work in precarious situations. In a discussion with representatives from various European institutions, strategies and solutions will be discussed on how artists can continue to be supported in financially, structurally, and politically tense situations, how art can remain visible, and how to defend against political influence.

ID_Tanzhaus Frankfurt Rhein-Main: Future lab on program design and curation
How should the program of a dance house for the independent scene be designed? What criteria should be used to select programs and artists? What strategies are there for avoiding one's own bias as much as possible? In the past, ID_Tanzhaus has developed an anonymous application and selection process for its residency program, for festivals such as Frankfurt tanzt, Frankfurter Tanzsommer, and the Night of Dance at the Sommerwerft. TanzNetzDresden has also already explored various forms of curation and program design, and a colleague from Dresden will give a brief introduction to her experiences at the beginning.
