The Creative Europe project SINIPARKSI has published a handbook for choreographers and dance educators that aims to encourage co-creation with culturally diverse groups and offers concrete tools for implementation. European choreographers have passionately tested, reflected on, documented, and refined their choreographic and pedagogical approaches. The result is a European training tool that is now freely accessible to all dance professionals!
Over the past three years, dance companies and dance schools from France, Greece, Croatia, and Germany have been researching ways to strengthen the cultural participation of people living in Europe. The long-term goal was to support broad access to contemporary dance. The project, which has been running since November 2023 under the direction of Cultures Eco Actives, enabled four European choreographers to test their own practice in culturally diverse contexts and exchange ideas with other European choreographers.
Online handouts and video tutorials as a training kit
Interested parties can find the two-part training kit on the comprehensive blog:
1) A written handout with pedagogical, didactic, and artistic considerations and a concrete toolkit for dance education, as well as experience reports from choreographers and participants in the “Challenge of Practice” workshops.
2) Video tutorials that illustrate specific methods using excerpts from the four “Challenge of Practice” workshops and allow the choreographers to reflect on their work.
In addition, the blog provides detailed information about the concept behind the project and how the shared insights were gained.
